Between Heaven and Hell on the Devil’s Bridge

J.W.Turner is one of the most famous and my favorite painter in the Romantic movement. From England, he is well known for his ethereal maritime seascapes. I’ve only recently found out that he had been in Switzerland when he was alive, specifically in Andermatt, a mountainous region close to my heart, and had painted the famous ‘devil’s bridge’ a few times actually, in the early 1800s. The old bridge has since moved, but like its namesake, still looks ominous…
